Re: Is there anybody... OUT THERE?

I wonder if any one is even using this hardware now. Mine just gather dust as there is so little on the TV.

This site is visited by more bots than it is humans. :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIxYe3G3Iz4 Hello Fellow 3View users. I have just logged in to update the database to stop your details being hacked and stolen by naughty hackers. And there is the obvious question. Is this forum still needed? Does anyone use the boxes now? I'll be honest - I haven'...

I am wondering how much longer to keep this forum running.

Re: Box gone Loopy

I'll do some putty experiments later. I can't quite remember from memory. I am pretty sure it does not echo the password back. Avoiding the classic "shoulder surfing" of someone watching you type. Have you tried using an older version of Putty in case it is just something fussy with Putty? Random Th...

Re: Box gone Loopy

A small drive will certainly work as a test. Just leaves less space for recordings. I'll go digging in the cupboard tomorrow. See what parts are in there. As you can see, there are only two boards inside. If anything is playing up I assume it would be the main board. The tuner board would show up pr...

Re: Box gone Loopy

Okay. I have reminded myself of the box by pulling it apart. Best thing to get hold of is a credit card or simlar plastic item that can be used to persuade the plastic apart. Once you have the screws out from underneath, a good determined wiggle will get the rest of the box apart. When looking at th...

Re: Box gone Loopy

Sorry - not taken one apart in ages so I cannot remember. It is fairly simple though - just give it a bit of a wiggle once the screws are out.

If still confused I'll go pull a box apart and check for you. I do have more than one of these and some spare parts.

The "long password" is on page 6 of the PDF document. Scroll up... and you'll find I added a link in an earlier post.

Re: Box gone Loopy

"Segmentation fault" is never a good sign. I haven't seen the log output in ages. So the following is educated guesswork: First thing I notice: 01-Jan-2000. When you ran this install did you make sure you had set the date correctly first? Unless you are doing a bit of time travel back to the start o...

Re: Box gone Loopy

If the firmware is needed, I'll dig out a copy for you. I've just checked the old CodgeView notes and even though the instructions are still there, it seems his links have changed. So if you are rebuilding, you may find the following useful. Instructions: http://batteredbits.co.uk/3View/CodgeNotes.p...
