iPlayer version on 3view being "closed"

Postby larkim » Mon Aug 18, 2014 10:31 pm

Official notice on the header of the BBC iPlayer app on the 3view box
This version of BBC iPlayer is closing this September. See the FAQ for more.

The FAQ says
We've decided to close this version of BBC iPlayer. It's running on an old outdated system that is expensive to support and this wouldn't be an efficient use of the licence fee
etc etc

No surprise really, I think this was the only box using this version? (Could be wrong about that though)

We only use it when we can't be bothered firing up the Xbox instead.

I agree that it is not much of a surprise.
However I find it much easier to use than the one on my newer Panasonic Bluray player.
Plus this means I've got to teach the wife how to use another machine - that's easily the worst part of this announcement.

Found more on the BBC's website - it is the "BigScreen" version that is being closed apparently. Might even mean an update for your Panasonic Bluray player.
